Trauma

A trauma informed approach
At Stable Pace Therapy, I use a trauma informed approach which means that I see you as a whole person, with a history and experiences that have brought you to where you are now. I work at your pace and will establish your window of tolerance and keep you in this window throughout our journey together. You will learn how to regulate your nervous system and to ground yourself, while we explore your journey to wellbeing.

I work with you to find out how you would like to feel after you have finished your sessions with me. I use the 5 principles of trauma informed care – safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment to support you through your journey with us.

Counselling
Mental health can be affected by any number of life situations including changes to relationships, work issues, parenting issues, unresolved trauma, childhood experiences, grief and loss and many other things.

At Stable Pace Therapy I offer a safe space for you to work through what is happening for you, using a trauma informed approach to help you achieve positive outcomes by providing you with a tailored therapeutic support based on your needs.

About

Hello, I’m Karen, Founder of Stable Pace Therapy

I have been working as a trauma counsellor in Queensland for the past four years and I love assisting people through their recovery. I am passionate about good mental health, and I believe that when people are supported in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment they begin to heal from things that they have experienced and begin to like themselves again.

After years of experience supporting victims of sexual assault, victims of crime, and other trauma survivors and their families, and years of specialised supervision I decided to open my own practice, dedicated to trauma informed care of individuals of all ages, genders, abilities, & and cultures, helping people to heal, to resolve trauma, to communicate with others, build better relationships and engage in life in a meaningful and fulfilling way.
